DeckRemodelers.com was awarded a National second place for their achievement in the “Best Wood Deck under 500 square foot” category. Constructed in cedar and located in Tenafly NJ this deck has three levels, with a hot tub, 2 sets of cascading stairs and custom privacy walls. Outdoor space, on this deck, is a stunning source for private relaxation and romance located only a few miles from NYC. The upper level offers a view as well as convenience to the home’s kitchen while dining. Mid level provides for sunning and lounging offering a little more privacy while still maintaining the view. The lower hot tub level sits at 18 inches, or seat height above the adjacent level so access is ergonomic and as easy as sitting on a chair before sliding into the tub. This lowest level with its built in dressing screen was designed for maximum privacy from the neighbors while being oriented toward the setting sun and the night sky. This is the perfect outdoor place to melt away the stress of a long day.

In addition Deckremodelers.com placed third Nationwide in the “Best Wood Deck over 500 square foot” category. The Design entitled “IPE Oasis” has been constructed in Mendham, NJ. Ipe was used here accented with bluestone inlay matched to the walkways that serve to tie together deck and landscape. Welcoming guests for leisurely interaction is easy with places to sit and relax. Effortless transitions from one space to another and minimal railings facilitate enjoyment of the space. Centered in the lower lounge is a focal stone inlay fire feature and wide, open stairs that multitask as additional seating. Lowered rails answer the request for an unobstructed view from inside the home to the natural setting in the back yard. The deck features a complete outdoor kitchen fabricated on site from Ipe and topped with green and black matrix granite. A faux pergola of Mahogany lattice is used as a back stop for the kitchen adding privacy without a solid wall The granite is used again it the upper dining area where benches with built in granite topped cocktail tables create a sense of space while leaving the view open. The workmanship likened to furniture is refined by the addition of a double picture framed border and the Deck Remodeler signature profile fascia with plinth blocks.
DeckRemodelers.com a Sparta NJ based Design and Build firm recently attended the National Deck Competition held in Chicago. The competition was one of the highlights of the annual DeckExpo and Remodeling conference. This annual event showcases the finest examples of deck design, craftsmanship and construction from around the United States. DeckRemodelers.com accepted two awards for their work at the event. “Deck Furniture” best described by the owner and so entitled because of it’s amazing craftsmanship. This is a second story Ipe deck with Ipe rails and Deckorator Estate Balusters. The design includes a separate but matching master balcony. The outdoor space is enhanced by a full kitchen with black and gold granite countertops. The kitchen cabinets were fabricated on sight from Ipe. Detailed and completed with mahogany wrapped column posts underneath and our profile double picture frame border and fascia with plinth block corners carved from 4x4 Ipe. Over Two Thousand Ipe plugs were used here in addition to hidden fasteners.

This deck is entitled “Boardwalk” Handsomely providing for entertainment as well as the relaxation of a day in the sun, on a personal Ipe boardwalk. This deck makes a statement while servicing needs. The essence of quiet “Country Charm” envelopes this deck designed and constructed in Kinnelon, NJ. The sunlight filters through the pergola creating a lighthearted pattern of light and a tranquil atmosphere. The park like setting of the property allows for a pleasing view while resting under the soft flowing breeze of the ceiling fans. Wired for light and sound, entertainment is made easy and extends well past sundown. The backyard is accessible by the staircase which is both functional and decorative cascading from the deck to the natural setting below. The deck, with integrated storage, also provides winter storage for the homeowner’s sailboat.

Entitled “Suburban Hideaway” this is a design built in Upper Saddle River NJ. The feature of this newly constructed deck is the “Romantic Breakfast Nook” a quiet seating and conversation area set off to the side of the outdoor deck area. A problem issue of this property, on a corner lot, was the exposure to the street off the rear of the house and deck. The home owners needed an alternative to building a wall to gain some privacy. This unique one of a kind feature solves that major problem while at the same time adding character and charm to the whole back yard. It is built with recessed PVC panels, finished on all sides similar to the trim of the home’s interior and topped with a vinyl pergola. It looks great from the street and ties in to the exterior while enhancing the architecture of the house. The bench seats are done with decking to contrast the white while matching the deck. Wrap around stairs give easy access onto the deck. The layout provides for lounging in the sun, a large dining area plus a private seating and conversation space.

This Design is entitled “Infinity.” Constructed in Ringwood NJ, and built on a cliff, this challenging construction was well worth the final result…. Stunning views in every direction! The lake, the mountains, the eagle in fight the hawk over head! You can see forever! The railing system offers safety and security concealed to the eye. The custom rails combine Radiance rail and Stainless cable. This allows for an amazing open feeling while maintaining a sense of wellbeing for all provided by the sturdy top rail. The design takes full advantage of a views to the South that extends over Lake Erskine and beyond to infinity. The original narrow 450’ deck hung off of the house with trusses, avoiding drilling, pinning and pouring on the rock that composes the mountain top where this home is located. This multi-level design in Timbertech XLM, is enhanced by a stone inlay and the detailed look of a double picture framed border. The upper dining area overlooks the fire feature for added ambiance during dinner and the wrap around stairs lead to the sunken lounge and act as additional seating.

“Grand Entry” the title of this deck design describes the outstanding element of this deck. The Grand staircase cascades from the deck to the yard that leads to a picturesque wooded area. The stairs are 22’ wide at the bottom and make a true statement. The design was constructed in Timbertech XLM with a Desert Bronze and Rustic Bark combination. Black Timbertech rails were used to blend into the wooded landscape and let the eye travel past the rail and into the scenery. The black color choice also ties into the existing fence that borders the property. The multiple levels and area sizes add visual interest while being functional in dealing with varied floor heights in the home.

DeckRemodelers.com attended the Chicago conference to remain knowledgeable in all the latest product offerings and techniques. They chose to compete in support of their many locally built decks and also to compare their work with the best efforts of others around the Nation. The contest entries were judged for best design, craftsmanship and overall appeal. The annual competition is sponsored by N.A.D.R.A. the North American Deck and Railing Association. Constructed is in natural hardwoods as well as maintenance free synthetic materials . Winners were selected in eight categories. The awards ceremony “A Night at The Museum” took place at The Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, IL.
